19 weeks in the blink of an eye. You had your 4 month check-up this week. You are 25 1/4″ long and 15lbs 3oz. Your smile lights up the room and we still haven’t gotten a belly laugh but you give us plenty of giggles. We got the go ahead to start solid foods, but your dad isn’t quite ready, he wants to keep you little, which is fine by me, we are in no rush. The shots that came at 4 months were terrible- you screamed, I teared up, but this time you calmed down much faster.
You are staying on your belly longer and longer, holding that head up high, and taking in your surroundings. You have rolled a few more times from belly to back, when you decided you no longer want to be on your belly. Putting everything in your mouth has recently become your most favorite thing- you grab almost anything that is in front of you and in reach, and strait to the mouth it goes. You seem to have a favorite toy, a little red Christmas bear that came in your stocking, you light up every time I give it to you. I think you might be a chatterbox when you get older, you love nothing more than to babble and coo, and if your dad and I are doing something, you get louder and louder with your babbles until you have our undivided attention.
You have had a cold since we started daycare but this week you finally started to feel better. No more stuffiness and just a slight cough, which we couldn’t be happier about. Sleeping is still something we are working on, you are pretty consistent with waking up every 2-3 hours to eat, sometimes to play and that’s when I give you a little pep talk about 2 am not being the best time for play! The days are long, but the years are short is what the say…so I am just soaking up every moment, exhausted or not.
I thought this whole day care thing was going to get easier, but it seems to be getting harder. When I drop you off now, you notice when I leave and you stick out that lip and cry on some days as I pass you off. It breaks my mama heart, every single time. I know when you are there you are happy, you are always happy. You love watching the other kids move around and sitting in the play saucer. It still feels like Christmas every time I come to get you. You almost always flash me a big smile and I snuggle you in close. We have changed our routine a little bit in the mornings and I think it is for the better! We wake up at the same time, but I nurse you at home now right before we leave instead of in the car at daycare. You hare started taking a bottle a little bit more, which makes me less stressed when I am at work!
Sweet girl, you are getting bigger and bigger by the day. You light up our world and I just love getting to watch you learn and take in this world.
