Sweet girl, you make my world go round. I have been thinking a lot about this little life of ours, what do we want from it? What will make us all the most happy? Do we play life safe because it’s what we think we should do? I know that as long as I have you and your dad I will be happy regardless of what this life throws at us, but I constantly think about how I can be better for you.
Most days I wake up and have zero interest in going to work, it’s not that I don’t love my kids at work and what I do, but I LOVE being your mama and I wish I could stay home with you every day. The thing that makes it better though? That smile of yours sweet girl. You smile all day long, no matter what is going on. Each day is a whole new adventure for you and you always welcome it with a smile. I hope that never changes. Watching you wake up every morning smiling no matter what, has made me take on each day with a smile and has made my life brighter. You are constantly teaching me things.
You are getting so big and developing new skills every day. Playing on the floor is so much fun now because you have a huge interest in toys, mostly because you want to eat them all! Your grandpa and grandma Davis got you a singing elephant for Christmas and you were unsure of it until this week, but now when I press its foot you grin from ear to ear and squeal. You are rolling, but not consistently. You never really hated tummy time but now you seem to like it. You push up nice and high, love looking all around and reach for anything you possibly can get your little paws on! When we are eating dinner on the couch or at the table you reach for everything, it definitely makes eating more like an Olympic event now, as I hold you and try to eat without you grabbing it!
You still love bath time and diaper changes, unless you are hungry, then you want nothing to do with diaper changes. I think we can officially say you will take a bottle (most of the time) but still prefer to nurse, which is fine by me. You have quite the little leg rolls (they are my favorite) and the first thing everyone says when they see you is “look at those cheeks!”. I am happy that you love to eat and happy that so far I can provide you with as much as you need. Your giggle is becoming bigger and bigger each day, I am still waiting for that full on belly laugh. You babble constantly and it’s adorable, sometimes you catch yourself off guard with how loud you get. You love to watch me sing wheels on the bus and giggle when we play peek-a-boo. Reading books is one of my favorite things to do with you, you have started to love looking at all the pictures.
Eloise, being your mama is my FAVORITE, but sometimes it is hard. Not because of you, but because there are so many choices we have to make on a daily basis about what is best for you and there are so.many.opinions. Do we start solids? Do we wait? Do we start sleep training you in your crib? Are we keeping you up too late? Should we be doing more tummy time? Did we take you out too much this weekend? So many questions, so many answers, who knows what is right. I’m slowly learning though that my mama instinct and of course your dads thoughts are the only ones that matter. I’m grateful for those that want to help, but at the end of the day I have to believe that your dad and I know what is best for you.
Dream big little one. You can move mountains.
