I finished reading You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero about 2 weeks ago. The book took me longer to read than normal, because I poured over her words. I soaked up every single word that she said and was motivated more than ever before. I am a firm believer that you can have everything you want in this world, it doesn’t matter if you have no money, live with your parents, hate your job, are single, or have crippling debt.
YOU are in charge of your life.
YOU are in charge of making change.
YOU are in charge of setting goals and reaching them.
YOU are in charge of your present and future.
YOU are in charge of your happiness.
YOU are the only one stopping yourself from reaching everything you want in this life.
“Wanting can be done sitting on the couch with a bong in your hand and travel magazine in your lap. Deciding means jumping in all the way, doing whatever it takes and going after your dreams with the tenacity of a dateless cheerleader a week before prom night.”
How many times have you said you will start tomorrow? How many times have you said you will start the 1st of the month? The 1st of the year? If you want change than start this very instance. Stop saying you are going to, stop making lists and plans, just start, right now. It can be as simple as making the phone call, ordering the book, or carving out 10 minutes to actually start writing the business plan. Become active with your goals and your dreams, it is the only way that progress and change can happen.
“What other people think about you has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them.”
How many times have you stopped yourself from doing something in fear of what others may think? How many times have you deleted the Facebook post or the Instagram post in fear of judgement? How many times have you sat in silence because you were afraid to say something that would make someone else unhappy? Stop caring about what others think, be YOU, do YOU, love YOURSELF.
“Our fantasies are our realities in an excuse free world.”
We make excuses for everything. I didn’t workout today because I was too tired…I already showered and don’t want to again…I didn’t have time. The excuse list goes on and on, it also gets easier to make excuses I found out, when you have a kid. I catch myself saying that I was too busy with Eloise to get things done, but the truth is, if your goals matter to you and you want to change your life, then you will stop making excuses and start taking action.
“The moment you have the audacity to start believing in the not-yet-seen, your reality will begin to shift.”
It can be really hard to believe something without proof. At some point though you have to dream and dream big, but also you need to fully believe in those dreams. You want to make more money? You want to stay home with your kids? You want to buy a house? Then fully commit and know that they will happen. When you want something bad enough and believe it with your whole heart, you will see a shift in your life for the better.
“If your serious about changing your life, you’ll find a way. If not you’ll find an excuse.”
Back to the excuses. We tend to be the biggest road blocks in our path to our dreams and goals. Find away to cut the excuses and push through the fear. Most excuses come from fear. Let them go,
