The past few years I have chosen a word to focus on in the new year. A few weeks before New Years rolls around I try to think about words and what they represent, normally I generate a list of 5 or 6 that are all in some way meaningful for me, however, there is always one word on the list each year that just pulls at me more than the others. I try to carry my word over into daily life for the entire year, some years I forget about the word after a few weeks and other years the word is so apparent in my everyday life. I never force it, I tape it up a few places around the house as a reminder and I jot it down in my planner every now and then.
In 2014 it was THRIVE and now in 2015 I choose NOURISH.
Nourish can apply in so many ways to so many areas of life. I am at this point in my life where things have settled a bit, I am starting a new job and I am done school which means I can focus less on textbooks and more on the things that matter to me.
I’ve decided to pick four important areas of my life (all encompassing, really) to focus on nourishing in 2015.
Nourish self// Self for me includes physical, emotional, and mental well-being. I really want to make sure I take care of myself in 2015. I am great at taking care of others and can easily forget about myself. I want to do more things that make me happy and learn a healthy balance of saying yes and no to others. I also want to make sure I am nourishing my body with whole food & consistent exercise
Nourish work// I worked so hard to get where I am, I am officially a licensed occupational therapist and I am about to start a job working with kids! I am excited & nervous. I really want to make the best and learn the most from this opportunity. I also want to put a lot more energy into my work at home, like this blog and some side projects.
Nourish relationships// The people in my life deserve my best self, always. My husband, my family and my friends are the good stuff in this life. I really want to make sure I am putting my energy and heart into cultivating the relationships in my life.
Nourish home// Home is where the heart is. Right now we are so grateful that we get to live with my mom and start building our savings back up. At some point though we will be apartment hunting and I am excited to make a home for us again.
