I ran my first half marathon a few years ago and since then I have not done too much in the running realm. I decided once we moved to a nicer area, an area with sidewalks, and an area that has a nice running community I would jump back on the bandwagon. Having my dad and other running friends close by helps too. I started training last Sunday, the temperatures were freezing, the sidewalks were covered in snow and I realized just how out of shape I truly am. After my run every muscle in my body hurt, things I didn’t even know that could hurt, hurt.
So my goal? A marathon. Yep, I am hoping to train for a Fall marathon, hopefully the Chicago Marathon! I will be following a training plan and working on strength training, I will be posting my journey on Instagram and occasionally on the blog. I am excited, nervous, overwhelmed all rolled up into one. It is a large time commitment and something I need to keep motivating myself to do. Sometimes when it is -6 outside my motivation flies out the window, I just need to learn to push through and not beat myself up when I have to switch a run day or change around my schedule. It will be a balance of give and take, along with listening to my body.
