Guest Post: Summer Style

Hey guys today Molly is guest posting for me, she is one of my lovely sponsors for the month of July, go leave her some love in the comments and make sure to swing by her blog and say “hi!”

Are you like me? Do you have a summer uniform?

As temperatures rise, my brain turns to mush. Having a “go to” look or two is necessary for my sanity.  A girl needs outfits that she can throw on and still feel confident and put together. Am I right?

Since Jenn was so gracious to give me a little bit of air time here at Simplistic Living, I thought I’d share what I consider my uniform for a Summertime Saturday stroll.

We moved to Chicago’s South Loop very recently and we walk everywhere. So for me, comfort is key. Plus, accessories need to be more than just decorative. They must also to be functional. But please don’t misunderstand. That doesn’t mean I’m willing to forgo looking cute.

Stylish + Comfortable + Functional = My Saturday Stroll Look

I fell in love at first sight with these Old Navy twill shorts. They’re bright, playful and meet the ever present need for polka dots in my life. Paired with the perfect white t shirt, they are the ideal summer wardrobe staple.

Chicago is a great big city and I’m having a blast exploring it. Along the way, my Sperry Angelfish slip-ons and I have become best friends. Not only are they adorable, they might be the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned. I speak the truth.

Lucky for me, straw fedoras are totally trendy right now. Because I believe I am in love. I found a hat similar to this one (which is now sold out – boo!) at DSW. Protection from the sun? check. An excuse not to do my hair? check. A hat that still lets my head breathe so I stay cool? check. I’m telling you, this little baby is the complete package.

Cross body bags are another essential for summer strolling. Where else can you stuff your sunscreen, sunglasses, camera, and water bottle? Unfortunately, the bag I’m currently using isn’t nearly as cute as this Cayenne SAK. But that may be changing very soon.

When it comes to summertime jewelry I’m a minimalist. Give me the perfect pair of feminine studs and I’m a happy camper. When the thermometer gets close to 100 degrees, I need as few things touching me as possible. So while I love a great necklace or bracelet as much as the next girl… they are simply not practical in June, July or August.

What makes up your summer uniform?

Molly is a social media junkie with a thirst for life long learning and an appetite for cupcakes. Currently she can be found falling madly in love with Chicago and chronicling the whole affair at her blog A Foreign Land. She also tweets up a storm under the guise of @mollypg.
